Provocation techniques
CHANGE THE PERSPECTIVE
A provocation jolts the mind out of its usual path,
to question the known reality.
They break the usual rules of thinking.
Provocations do not have to be logical, reasonable or possible
They seem absurd most of the time
They do not require justification
THE FALSIFICATION
Change a qualitative property
Distortions give new insights. What can be changed? What could be different?
The football field is hilly
Each player plays the card game according to different rules
Examinations take place outdoors
THE REVELOPMENT
Turn it upside down and swap it around
Reversals allow us to see new relationships and interactions. What is the connection between xy and each other?
The dial moves, the hands stay still
The innkeeper drinks, the guests pour out
The cards play with the people
THE IDEAL CASE
What is the desired result?
What is our goal? Where do we want to go? What do we want to achieve?
All players are winners
The supermarket never closes
Batteries last forever
THE EXAGGERATION
It becomes very big, small, narrow, wide
What factors change with exaggeration?
How much weight is given to a single factor?
The pencil is 100 cm long
The country has 2 federal parliaments
Everyone has a birthday 3 times a year
the overturning of assumptions
Cancel an assumption that has been made about the world so far
Look at the obvious – collect attributes of the task
Suspend your faith – turn the attributes into provocations
Be persistent – derive ideas from provocations
