Breaking new ground as a pioneer – this was the philosophy behind our renovation of Europe’s largest sports store. We transformed warehouses into highlight areas, open spaces into bars, and quiet corners into eye-catching highlights. With our customary attention to detail, we oversaw the metamorphosis of this sports and fashion business in the heart of Mannheim.

With its gender split, hospitality and staging, the engelhorn sports store in Mannheim’s N5 district is one of the largest in Europe. We gave free rein to our creativity as we redesigned and renovated three floors. Different areas became entire worlds in their own right – fluorescent tubes became guidance systems showing the way there. Besides the new design, engelhorn has also broken new ground in terms of the customer experience. With courage. And success.
Strong product presentations greet customers directly: on the ground floor, basketball, football and Style of Sports speak straight to the hearts of fashion-conscious sports addicts. Between concrete and metal. Or how about some yoga? One floor higher, ladies can indulge their sporting passion without inhibition. Embedded in soft, light tones and materials with sporty lines. The second floor exudes a more masculine atmosphere. Shades of grey and black quickly set the tone for gentleman athletes. Surrounded by concrete, maritime pine and rough ropes.

The intermediate areas invite you to experience the aesthetics of human interaction. If you’re looking for a small yet exquisite oasis for a time-out during your next shopping trip, you will find it on the top floor of this fashion house. Relaxation and discovery are absolutely in vogue there. Over a tasty cocktail, for example. The new design places the bartenders at the heart of the action. And thus adds a dynamic element to an otherwise serene, lounge-like atmosphere. Dark furniture, golden highlights, ethnic accents and an atmospheric lighting concept create an extraordinary ambience.
Communication within the room
Retail spaces should inspire us, teleport us to other worlds. At engelhorn, they even speak to you. In the form of casual neon signs, for example. With equally modern typography.
