Lindau State Garden Show

Meeting areas

Where flowers bloom, the world smiles, they say. The city of Lindau will be inviting and cosmopolitan at the Bavarian garden show “Natur in Lindau” in 2021, when the picturesque region at the foot of Lake Constance will be transformed into a sensual experience of gardens, water and panorama. For the Lindau district, we are developing the concept and implementation planning for the 70-square-metre pavilion, which aims to attract visitors to the region at a central location. As a sustainable meeting space, the pavilion is also to find a purposeful use after the exhibition.

A stage for the region

To create an exhibition point that reflects all the diversity and joie de vivre of Germany’s southernmost tip as well as its economic innovative strength. And, with which the connection of the West Allgaeu with the Lake Constance region becomes clear. It was therefore intended to be an aesthetic encounter in the countryside, bringing these different themes together in equal measure. In addition to the architectural appeal, the flexible usability of the space was also central to the task. The pavilion was to serve as an information point, exhibition and action platform for readings, lectures and performances.

Design for the senses

Authentic materials that convey the beauty, diversity and identity-giving characteristics of the region. A simple building construction made of local wood. Lots of space and openness. These are the characteristics of the architecture. Wooden footbridges leading into the open countryside symbolise Lake Constance – at the same time, the material builds a natural bridge to the western Allgäu. The design thus consistently follows the close connection between traditional elements and contemporary interpretation. A special place of encounter where locals and tourists alike can rediscover the region for themselves.
