Book fanatics might want to look away now: the Gessler 1862 bookstore in Friedrichshafen has been completely re-designed by atelier 522. And although they still stock a whole host of books – on (almost) every subject, from now on they also offer lifestyle aplenty. Not fleeting fashion trends, but pure style. To give as a gift, to browse, to discover for yourself. The bookworms amongst you might be turning up your noses right now. But then you’ll miss out on the olfactory experiences of the men’s fragrances, the regional specialities – and the adjoining café-bar with its snacks and treats. The traditional company has been transformed into a cultural meeting place – with its own piano and packed event calendar: with everything from live concerts to readings. The creative ideas of atelier 522’s interior designers provided a fresh and cosy look for the store.
